Robert Lee Dye 88 of Liberty, Missouri was born on April 12, 1936 in Macon, Missouri. He passed away at home in Liberty, Missouri on October 25, 2024. He was preceded in death by his Father Arius Gladden (A.G.) Dye, his mother Thelma Irene (Baldwin), his wife Darline (Armstrong), his stepson Michael Armstrong. He is survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law Gladen & Karen Dye, Don & Janice Dye, his sister Jane Dye, his three children Dana Dye, Linda (Dye) Hasapes her husband Frank, Bryan Dye his wife Jodi (Holman), and his stepson Robert Armstrong his wife Perla. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He graduated from William Jewell College with a major in Business Administration and a minor in psychology. He was a 3-year letterman in football, and a first team guard on two consecutive conference championship teams his junior and senior years. He was a WJC campus handball champion his junior and senior years (gold metals). He received a 25-year Life and Activities Recognition award from William Jewell College. He worked in the banking industry for the last 25 years of his career in various management positions with the highest position held being C.E.O. of Clay County Savings & Loan. He served as a member and officer on 7 Board of Directors over the years, the most notable being a board member and treasurer of the Senior Executive Council of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area Savings and Loan Association Business, Liberty Hospital (original founding board member), The Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce, the Liberty Jr. Chamber of Commerce and civic clubs such as the Lions Club, Sertoma Club, and Rotary. He retired at the age of 56 in 1992 from the Resolution Trust Corporation. He was the primary care giver for his wife that suffered from Alzheimer’s for 12 years until she passed. He ran for the mayor of Lee’s Summit twice. He was a volunteer and member of several organizations some of which include One Good Meal (Delivering meals to the elderly), Abundant Life Baptist Church, Red Cross, and Lion’s Club. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, sports, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Big Bucks Club of Missouri for his Trophy Deer. He enjoyed life, spending time with his best friend and companion Dolores (Sammy) Mihlhauser, and the world around him. He did not let life pass him by, and he was up and active until his last moment. He was loved and will be dearly missed.
