Robert Harold Jenkins

Kansas City, Mo.

Surrounded by his family, Robert H. Jenkins (Bob), age 88, died peacefully at home on August 8, 2024. He was born January 14, 1936, to Harold and Ethel Jenkins. After graduating high school in Kansas City Missouri, he went on to serve his country joining the United States Naval Reserves. He began his career with Hallmark Cards. Bob was called to active duty in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis where he served in the Air Navy. Afterwards Bob earned a degree from the University of Missouri. Returning to Hallmark Cards after college and military service, he rose to become a manager over several departments. He met Linda Lynch, who he affectionately called Sweetie-Pie, in 1974. Two years later the couple married, and Bob became a father to twin boys, Michael and Patrick age 5 and daughter Melinda age 7.

Bob loved all sports and was an avid tennis player and golf enthusiast. His joy was watching the various sports Michael and Patrick played, he delighted in all of the grandchildren's activities. Bob was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and had season tickets for 40 years. His hobby was studying history and building WW11 models. He was President of the International Plastic Modelers Association for several years. He was a dedicated member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Bob retired from Hallmark after 40 years in 1996.

Bob was quick witted and his daughter, Melinda loved his jokes and funny texts. She spoiled him often with his favorite candy, Jellybeans.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Jenkins of the home; daughter Melinda and Bruce Jilbert of Kansas City, Missouri; son Michael Lynch of Rugby, North Dakota; and son Patrick Lynch of Austin, Texas. His grandchildren include Gage Lynch, Tristan Lynch and fiancé Kristen Kirwin, Norah and Bryce Bolten, Brayden Jilbert, Olivia Lynch, Landon Lynch, Beckett Lynch and great-granddaughter Roslyn Lynch.

The family wishes to thank the nurses of Gentiva Hospice and private nurses Heidi and Debbie for their dedicated care.

A Visitation for Bob will be held from 10-11 AM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11 AM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068. A private burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors.
