Robert E. Throckmorton, 93, died peacefully in his home on April 13, 2025, with his loved ones beside him. Robert was born on December 17, 1931, in Kansas City, MO to Ralph and Peggy Throckmorton.
He served his country joining the United States Army and rose to the level of Corporal. He actually turned 21 overseas in Korea. He then returned home and married the love of his life, Hazel Williams. Robert and Hazel were blessed to be happily married for almost 64 years, where Hazel loved and cared for him until his final rest. After moving to Raytown, MO, Robert graduated from a local police academy and began working as a police officer for the city of Raytown. Throughout his long career, from 1962-1987, he advanced in the Raytown Police Department and retired as Captain Robert Throckmorton. Serving his country and protecting his city were his favorite passions. He constantly told stories of his time overseas and in the department. His professional life was important, but his family was his priority. Over a period of 5 years, the couple had 3 children. His children remember him as a loving, gentle and supportive father, who taught them all to believe in themselves. He was an accomplished pilot, police officer, and golfer. He drove the entire country via motorcycle and saw all the states except 2. He and his family have many memories traveling the country on motorcycles together, including traveling with a sidecar. His hobbies included: flying model airplanes with his son, camping, water skiing, fishing, boating and bowling. When he was younger, he would often dance, rollerblade and ice skate. Those that remember him, will always remember he loved his coffee, and his hand was never far from a cup.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Peggy Throckmorton; his brother Danny Throckmorton; his daughter Pamela ("Penny") Throckmorton, and great-grandson Johnathan.
Robert is survived by his wife, Hazel Throckmorton; his son Terry Throckmorton (Angie); and his daughter Sheila Wagner (Mark); his grandchildren, Teresa, Dena, Jacob, Beth, Lauren, Sam, and Joe; and 13 great-grandchildren.
