Roberta Mae Sambursky, a loving mother and dedicated homemaker, passed away on December 20, 2024, in North Kansas City. Born on October 9, 1934, in Saddle, Arkansas, to Charles and Effie Blackburn. Roberta grew up in Arkansas with a full house with five sisters and one brother. She moved to Kansas City and graduated from Manual High School. She cherished her childhood and held fond memories of joy and love, especially her time spent with her beloved Grandma Frazier. Following her education, she ventured into the professional world and became an office manager for a doctor, immersing herself in the medical field and gaining valuable insights into x-rays and other aspects of healthcare.
Above all, Roberta was a devoted mother. Her life revolved around her three sons, Gary (Teresa), Danny, and Randy (Jacque). She was their greatest supporter, embodying the spirit of a wrestling mom who cheered passionately from the sidelines. The bond she shared with her sons was profound and will be remembered as one of her proudest accomplishments.
In addition to her love for her children, Roberta was also a talented cook, taking great pride in maintaining a tidy home and creating delicious meals for her family. Her culinary skills were only rivaled by her love for playing bridge, a game she enjoyed with friends and family alike. Roberta had a playful side; she often delighted in scaring people, bringing a sense of fun and laughter to those around her.
Roberta was a dedicated member of the Liberty Church of Christ, a place where her faith flourished and she found community. This sense of belonging and connection to her faith was a source of strength and motivation throughout her life.
Roberta is survived by her three sons and their families, including eight grandchildren: Josh, Joel, Evan, Olivia, Anna, Bonnie, Grace, and Anastasia, along with thirteen great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy forward. She is also survived by her brother, Luther (Norma) Blackburn, and her sisters, Charlene Ricker and Sue (Jon) Best, who will remember her with hearts full of love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra "Willie" Sambursky, as well as her parents, Charles and Effie Blackburn, and sisters Naomi Hollis, Jeannie Hollis, and Mary Ann Johnson.
A visitation will take place on December 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty, Missouri, followed by a Celebration of Life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Roberta will then be taken in procession and laid to rest next to her husband at Glenridge Cemetery.
