Leah T. Roberts

Leah Tier Roberts, age 95, died May 19, 2022. She was born September 9, 1926 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Ralph M. and Mary Eaton Tier. She grew up in the little town of Wakarusa and spent her adult life in Topeka. She graduated from Washburn Rural High School and attended Washburn University. She was preceeded in death by her parents, brother Jack M. Tier during WWII, and in 2020 her daughter Mary “Jan” Pitler. Leah treasured her family and friends and enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling the country side with her husband. She was married to William A. Roberts for 62 years. He died November 18, 2010. She sold their family home in 2021 and moved to Missouri to be closer to her family. She is survived by two children, John W. Roberts (Linda) Holt, MO, stepson William A. Werts (Ruby) Milledgeville, GA, son-in-law Scott Pitler, Wakarusa, KS; four granddaughters, Jerbundy Mullis, Erica O'Brien, Anna Ames, Mary Jane Buckley, and 8 great grandchildren. Leah wished to be cremated and a private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, KS.
