Yoshiko Takahashi Robinson - 83 of Lee’s Summit MO - passed on June 26, 2021, after her second battle with cancer. She was born April 11, 1938, in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Morio and Take (Furakawa) Takahashi.
She married James I. Robinson in August of 1960. Yoshi became a US citizen in 1976. She was very proud of being a citizen. James retired from the US Air Force, however, during the preceding 20 years, they lived in many places, settled in Topeka, Kansas and raised two daughters, Joyce Hodges and Janet Robinson Card.
It seemed as if everyone in Topeka knew Yoshi.. She loved being around people. But, if you knew her, you knew she loved her grandson, Avery James Hodges. When Avery was born she retired from her job at Stormont Vail hospital so that she could spend every minute with Avery. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for Avery; truth be told, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to help just about anyone.
One of the things she loved most was to play the penny slot machines, anywhere. She rarely won, but, had a great time playing. She also loved having a vegetable garden where she always grew tomatoes and cucumbers.
James preceded her death on October 19, 1987. She is also preceded in death by her parents.
Yoshi is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Brian) Hodges, Janet Robinson (Arlander) Card; her grandson, Avery Hodges and her step-grandchildren, Logan Card, Barry Hodges, Heather Hodges, and Sarah (Marci) Henderson-Hodges as well as seven step-great grandchildren.
Honoring Yoshi's wishes, cremation is planned. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, July 10 2021, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Box 756, Osceola, WI 54020.
