  1. Roger Phillip Huffman, 92, died peacefully at home on the morning of Jan 20, 2024. He was born Jan 15,1932 in Kansas City, MO. the son of Vosco S. and Nina A. Huffman. He was the 6th of 9 children. Roger married Norma May Mullenax on June 29, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. Roger joined the Army in Dec 1951 and served as a Corporal in the Korean War, he was honorably discharged Dec 1953.  Roger earned his Doctor of Chiropractic DC diploma Mar 1957 and worked in medicine while continuing his education, then taught history in the 60’s and 70’s. Their only child, Regina Louise, was born Nov 1971. Roger and Norma had a life filled with love, family, and adventure. Together they built a cabin in the Missouri woods and later found an abandoned 100 year old farmhouse that they transformed into a beautiful home, doing most of the work themselves.  Their home was always filled with lots of family and even more animals.  They rescued and nursed back to health every squirrel, kitten, turtle, bird, dog, raccoon or goat (and a whole lot more!) that they found in need. In 1983 Roger moved the family out to California where he began practicing Chiropractic Medicine again. Roger and Norma missed Missouri and they moved back in 1991 where they lived in Gallatin until health necessitated a move back west to live with their daughter in 2014.  Roger lost his wife Norma in Dec 2015, but he held onto a love of life and adventure that never dimmed.  Together with his daughter and son-in-law Donnie he went on cross country road trips, camping trips, boat rides, visits to family, and even at 90 was enthusiastically fixing up old houses and making them beautiful again! He was a favorite customer at the local establishments in town, young and old, everyone that met Roger was drawn in by his fun loving personality and warmth.  Roger was outgoing, curious, smart, funny, generous and kind.  He will be missed so very much. Roger is survived by his daughter Regina, son-in-law Donnie, grandchildren Dalton and Rachel and many extended family members. Visitation begins at 12:00 noon Friday Feb 23, 2024 followed by funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be directed to Wrightwood's Pet Shop by following this link: Donate | Wrightwood's Littlest Pet Shop (wrightwoodspetshop.wixsite.com)
