Teddy Joe Roney

Teddy Joe Roney, 84, of Kearney, Missouri, passed away on October 14, 2018, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Born April 29th, 1934, in Ray County, Missouri to Edward Clay Roney and Edna Elizabeth Stock Roney. He grew up in the Richmond area and graduated from Richmond High School, class of 1953. He served in the US Army for 2 years after graduation before working for TWA for 39 years, retiring in 1996. He was a long-time member of Beth Haven Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack Roney of Concordia, Kansas, and Jerry Roney of Richmond, Missouri, and sisters Jean Caylor and Anna Mae Phillips of Richmond, Missouri. He was also preceded by Marilyn Sue Swafford Roney, to whom he was married for 5 years prior to her passing in 1961. He is survived by Jane Roney of Kearney, Missouri, his wife of 56 years, sons Terence L. Roney (Helen Roney) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Daniel C. Roney (Melinda Roney) of Kansas City, Missouri, grandsons Brandon C. Roney, Joel L. Roney, and Alexander T. Roney all of Kansas City, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.

Ted volunteered at Liberty Hospital, enjoyed travelling, and loved to play music in his spare time. He was an avid waterskier, and spent many summers at the lake with family and friends. One of his greatest joys in life was his family and he stayed involved in the activities of his children and his grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on October 20th at Beth Haven Church, 4810 N Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, Missouri, 64119. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Beth Haven Church (at the address above) or City Union Mission, 1100 E 11th St, Kansas City, Missouri, 64106.
