Rosmond “Rose” Tyler was born on June 23,1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was one of six children born to the union of Henry & Ollie Mae (Sanders) Williams who both preceded her in death. She was a testament of strength and endurance, was a survivor of many alignments throughout her life and was called to glory on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
She met her husband, Luther J. Tyler, in high school and they were joined in holy matrimony on July 18, 1972, just shy of celebrating 52 years of marriage. With this union they were honored to parent 3 wonderful children, Sandra, Davin and Rachel. They were devoted to each other and whether they were traveling on one of their numerous trips or hanging out with family and friends they were joined at the hip. Together they cared for his mother Ruth, and her sister Madeline, which showed their loyalty and dedication to their family. As her health started to fail earlier this year, Luther put his life on hold. He nurtured and cared for his wife around the clock, preparing all her meals, ensuring she received her medication, telling her daily that he loved her, and was by her side when God called her home. In her final months, it was the mention of their great-grandchildren that brought the biggest smiles to both.
Rose attended school in the Kansas City Missouri school district and graduated from Central High in 1960. She will mostly be remembered for her crafty side. She had a talent for knitting and crocheting and gifted her family and friends with numerous afghans, potholders, caps and anything else that she could convert with yarn. Her love for reading extended throughout her lifetime. She maintained a physical library card because as she would say “there’s nothing like the smell of a good library book”. Many close to her will remember that she was very thrifty and prided herself on finding the best deals. Her son Davin recalls that his neighbors loved her saying that “if it ain’t on sale”. Her best kept secret was the “trunk man” which we all benefited from and never left her house without a bag of goodies.
Rose leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband Luther J. Tyler; Son Davin (Amanda) Williams; Daughters Sandra Lewis and Rachel Tyler; Grandchildren, DeNina (Adrian), Juliun, Davin (Anna), Hailey, and Kaleb (Kimberly); Great Grandchildren, Pierce, Ave’, August, Kyler, Kamryn, Savannah, and Tripp; Nieces Dawn, Joy, Pam, Michelle, Rhonda, Mirinda; and Nephew Rod. A host of great nieces and nephews; special friends Myrtle, Pat, Eartha; play brothers Lee-Lee and Winston and many others who were blessed to make her acquaintance.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Henry & Ollie Mae Williams; Stepmother Jewell Williams; Mother-n-law Ruth E. Young; Sister and Brother-n-law Madeline & Roosevelt Elliott; Brothers Willard, Fredrick (Skip), Henry (Bear), Michael, half-brother Randy Williams; and Nephew Todd Williams.
Funeral service will be 11AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Park Lawn Chapel, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Gate 1, Kansas City, MO 64138, followed by entombment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
