Roy was born in Milan, Missouri on March 27, 1947. He was one of seven children. After graduating high school in 1965, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by Missouri Public Service, later KCP&L, for 40 years.
He always had a love for baseball and was a huge Oklahoma Sooners fan. He kept in touch with many of his former Liberty classmates & always looked forward to the Class Reunions. Roy was a devoted family man to his wife Pat of 32 years, daughters, grandchildren, and extended family. His love was unconditional. Roy was always up for playing a good joke on somebody and his smile was contagious. One never knew if he was being serious or joking. He was a devoted member and friend to many at Liberty Group for 35 years. He was always willing to help others. If you knew Roy, then you knew how much he relished being a Papa. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he greatly enjoyed attending their many events and was so incredibly proud of them and all of their accomplishments.
Roy is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Pat; daughters Carrie Jones Thebeau (Rowdy) of Mexico, MO, and Angie Jones Gray (Scott) of Holt, MO; stepchildren Kelly Summers (Bob) of Kansas City, MO, and Kirk Thomas (Stacy) of Lee Summit, MO; grandchildren Ashtynn and Paytynn Gray, Jaron, Clay, and Lane Thebeau, Dalton and Dallas Scott, and Cheyenne Thomas; great-grandchildren Novella and Emmie Thebeau; sisters Shirley Elliott and Barb Snider; sisters-in-law Audrey Jones and Margret Jones; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Joyce Wright, Mona Clevenger, Terry Jones, and GE Jones.
The family is grateful for all the support and prayers they have received. We find comfort in knowing he is at peace. He will forever live in our hearts.
