Ruth Lancaster

Ruth Lancaster passed away peacefully in Shawnee, Kansas on November 18, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her husband William Lancaster, daughter Leslie Lancaster Gorton and son-in-law Steven Gorton.  She is survived by two grandchildren, Samuel and Abigail Gorton, a host of friends who loved her dearly including her close friend Marie Gorton.  

Ruth was from Ohio and moved to Kansas City with her husband and daughter.  She graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon University) with a degree in English and was a great lover of books, music and gourmet cooking.  Many of her friends and relatives treasure items she knitted and crocheted as gifts.

She will be greatly missed.  The family want to thank the staff of Brookdale-Shawnee and Vitas Health Care for the excellent care she received while at Brookdale.

Services will be at a later date.  A Private burial was Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
