Sandra J. (Morgan) West, 87, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.
Sandra was born in Kansas City, the daughter of Eugene and Winifred Morgan. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1955 and a year later married Robert West. During her early years of marriage, she worked for Hallmark but soon became a mom and put a halt to her career to raise five children.
She enjoyed reading, especially books regarding JFK, presidencies, and anything historical, watching movies, and pulling the arm of a one-armed bandit. You could always challenge her to trivia and capture her attention. She was an avid Royals fan as well as a Chiefs fan and especially rooted for Salvy Perez and Patrick Mahomes. She always claimed she didn't know much about football, but it was proven differently week after week when she called plays or penalties.
Sandra's greatest accomplishment in life was being a stay-at-home mom, where she ensured a proper education for her kids as well as Sunday visits to church. She was involved in Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, and the PTA. She was an excellent cook and often canned food from her own vegetable garden. Her unconditional love for her family was expressed in so many ways. After her children were raised, she worked for various companies including Sam's Town Casino, TMX answering service, and Sharon Lane nursing home.
More than life itself, she fiercely cherished and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing would bring a smile to her face more quickly than a phone call or a knock at the door from one of her grandkids. She was so proud of all of them and she will truly be missed by each and every one.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Robert; daughter, Lisa; son, Gary; and sister, Gloria. Survivors include son, Bobby of Garden City, MO; former daughter-in-law, Tina of Pleasant Hill, MO; son, Tim of Grandview, MO; daughter, Joy of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Mindy (Chris) of Girard, KS; 9 grandchildren: Josh (Eron), Caitlin, Lacey (Michael), Tara, Tim, Zach, Clint, Ashlie, Breana; 12 great-grandchildren: Rileigh, Emileigh, Aiden, Brinleigh, Madyson, Marlee, Westen, Austin, Aurora, Olivia, Kenley, and Kolton. She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved.
The family would like to thank Susan, Elizabeth, and all staff at Kansas City Hospice for the care and tenderness they provided to our mom.
