Delores M. Schick, 90, of Versailles, MO, died peacefully Friday December 25, 2020 at the Laurie Care Center in Laurie, MO with her loving husband of 72 years at her bedside. She was born February 2, 1930 in Grain Valley, MO. Delores was the oldest child of the late Leroy and Myrtle (Johnston) Perdue. She met Ervin ‘Peka’ Schick in October of 1947 at the El Torreon Roller Skating Rink in Kansas City, MO. Delores was working at Adler’s Department Store in downtown Kansas City. On April 10, 1948 they were united in marriage in Blackburn, MO at the preacher’s home, their Best Man was Donald Muncy and their Matron of Honor was Nancy Hall. They settled in Kansas City, MO.
Delores became a homemaker and stay at home mom to their four children. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City, MO and the children attended Immanuel Lutheran Elementary School where Delores was a daily volunteer. Delores was a caretaker for school and neighborhood children throughout the years. She dedicated her life to her husband and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by all and ‘Mom’ and ‘Grandma” to many. In 1992 when Ervin retired, they moved to Versailles, MO.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Erron and wife Debbie Schick of Mexico, MO, Linda Bennett of Versailles, MO, Sandra Swartwood of Bates City, MO, and daughter-in-law Veronica Schick of North Kansas City, MO; her sister Charlotte Warren of Garden Grove, CA; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was proceeded in death by her son Ronald Schick, brothers Dean and David Perdue and her sister Betty Kirchhoff.
There will be no services at this time, internment will be at Park Lawn South Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. There will be a celebration of Delores’s life at a later date.
