Gerald (Jerry) Schroeder age 83, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2021 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City Missouri. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Francis Regis at 10 am on Friday, March 12th, with burial services immediately following at Forest Hill / Calvary Cemetery. The wake will be from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, March 11th, with a rosary at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church.
Jerry was born November 24th, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska. Jerry grew up in Bridgewater, South Dakota and later graduated from St. John’s University in St. Cloud Minnesota with a degree in Social Science. After college, Jerry worked several jobs before beginning a 33 year career with the Social Security Administration. In May of 1964, Jerry married Barbara Sullivan in Salem, South Dakota and resided in Kansas City. In retirement Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and friends, gardening, and volunteering at Research Hospital and in the St. Regis community. Jerry was known for his quick wit, sharp intellect, knowledge of all things trivial, and many dad jokes.
Jerry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Schroeder, and his parents Francis and Marie Schroeder. Survivors include, children Bridget Cheatham(Eric), Jenifer Gouger(Tim), Gretchen Maschger, Chad Schroeder(Jenée), brother Donald Schroeder(Carol), sister Suzanne Fournier(Gil), sister Eileen Parnell(Greg) grandchildren Dawniel, Devon and David Maschger, Thomas and Theresa Gouger, Mitchell Cheatham, Jay and Leneia Schroeder, and great grandson Skylar Dodson(Maschger). He is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews & many lifelong friends.
