Sharene R. Nantz

January 16, 1955 — January 18, 2024

Kansas City, Missouri

Sharene Renae Nantz, affectionately known as "Sherry" to her friends and family, was called Home to be with her Lord and Saviour on January 18, 2024 at the age of 69. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born on January 16, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the cherished oldest daughter of the late Darlene Ann (Nantz) McConnell and the late Jackie Ray Nantz. Kansas City, with its historic charm and warm hospitality, was not only Sherry's birthplace but also her lifelong hometown.

Sherry was a loving, helpful soul who was always smiling and laughing. She enjoyed the springtime and warm summer days. Bowling, watching movies, grilling, planting flowers, playing cards, going to the casino, knitting, crocheting, and dancing the two-step to her many favorite artists were some of the many things she loved. Sherry had fond memories of growing up and frequently going to the Lake of the Ozarks with her parents, siblings, and grandparents Nannie and Pappaw. She loved to fish and watch the fireworks. Sherry enjoyed entertaining friends for a fun grill-out, going out to lunch, dinner, and shopping. She was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, never missing a game! She also was an avid animal lover.

Sherry's love for life also extended beyond her family. She enjoyed working and worked 37 years at Southeast Enterprises before retiring in 2008. She also dedicated much of her time to going to church and was well known for her storytelling, her warm hugs, and her innate ability to make everyone feel loved.

Sherry is predeceased by her beloved mother Darlene Ann McConnell, Stepfather Bobby Mac McConnell, Father Jackie Ray Nantz, Sister Jacqueline Ann Shoemaker, Brother Scott Brady Nantz, and Nephew Andrew Ryan Shoemaker. Sherry's legacy is carried on by her loving sisters Annette Nantz and Carla Hanna, her nieces, nephews, and large extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom will deeply miss her gentle spirit and generous heart.

A visitation and service to celebrate Sherry's life will be held on Friday, January 26 with a visitation from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Park Lawn Funeral Home located at 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. Following the visitation, a service will be held at 1:00 pm. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a reception at Sherry's home following the service to share memories and fellowship.

Sherry's life was a tapestry of nurturing love, selfless service, and unwavering kindness. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through generations. She will be dearly missed by many.
