Velma Showalter

Velma Showalter, 95, passed away July 27, 2022. Velma was born February 17, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold Stocker Buterbaugh and Mollie (Hetz) Buterbaugh. She graduated from Avila College in 1972 and taught school at St. John’s Holy Rosary Catholic Church for many years. Velma was a member of Eastgate Christian Church.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband Shirley James Showalter. Survivors include her daughter Linda Turner; son Michael Showalter and his wife Evie; son Bob Showalter; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 12PM, with service to follow at 1PM, Tuesday, August 2 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials and contributions may be sent to Eastgate Christian Church, 4010 River Blvd. Independence, MO 64055 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be 12PM, with service to follow at 1PM, Tuesday, August 2 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
