Edward Wayne "Eddie" Simmons, 60, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away tragically on August 20, 2021.
Ed was born May 1, 1961, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Roy Simmons and Judy Reid Simmons. Ed was the eldest of three children. His father preceded him in death.
Ed loved being in the country. His favorite childhood memories were at his grandparents' farm. His passions included riding his motorcycle, his country (he served in the Army and Navy), politics, but most importantly his wife of almost 40 years, daughters and grandkids. He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in 1999. Ed didn't know a stranger!
Survivors include the love of his life, Kiana "Jeannie" Simmons; daughters, Brandi Marley (Paco), Candace Simmons (John Swartz), Amanda Reese (Tyler) and Andrea Simmons; grandchildren, Alec, Gabriel, Noah, Quinton, Alexa, Makenna, Tara, Ethan and Kolton. Ed also leaves his mother and step father, Judy and Stan St. John; brother, Glen Simmons (Melonie); sister, Anita Glenn (John); three step brothers; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Neurofibromatosis Network (www.nfnetwork.org).
There will be a committal service at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Those wishing to attend the service are to gather at the VFW Post 5606, 5406 NE Oak Ridge Drive, Kansas City, MO 64119 at 9:30 am for a procession/ride to Leavenworth National Cemetery. For those attending the cemetery service or those who cannot, there will be a Celebration of Ed’s life from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm that afternoon at VFW Post 5606.
