Charlene Elizabeth Smith, 63, of Independence, MO, joined her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2021, at her home with loved ones at her side.

Charlene was born August 18, 1958, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Charles Triggs Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Williams) Triggs. Her parents and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

Charlene graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph. She worked 21 years for American Family Insurance and later worked in various capacities for the State of Missouri. She was a member of Word of Life Church in St. Joseph and most recently became a member of Graceway Church in Raytown. She was an avid Chiefs fan and collector of snowmen.

Charlene was united in marriage to Richard Lee Smith on October 26, 1989. Along with Richard, Charlene leaves children: Melissa Meyer (John), Elijah Smith (Shian), Rebecca Lammers, William Smith (Kyann) and Michael Smith (Misty); grandchildren: Jude, Everleigh, Skye, Jordan, Brooklyn, Daeton, Emma, Brady, Bella, and a grandson Tauren who will be delivered Friday the 17th; three great grandchildren; a twin brother, Charles Triggs Jr. (Betty); sister, Martha Anderson (Darrell); nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, including Smokey Joe and Cora Beth, her beloved dogs.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Charlene's life at 11:00 am, on Thursday, December 16, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Word of Life Church, Graceway Church or to an education account for Charlene's grandchildren c/o Melissa Meyer.
