Dorothy L. Smith passed away on March 20, 2022. Dorothy was born in Rhineland Missouri on April 11, 1930 to Lowell E and Georgia May Gregory. She attended Bethany High School then went to Northwest Missouri State University for college. She taught in a one room school house for 3 years before she moved to Kansas City with her sisters.

On September 1, 1956 she married the love of her life, Whitney A Smith. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Whitney on February 10, 2022 they were married 65 years. They have three daughters Myrna Jones (Daniel),Cheryl Anderson (August) and Linda Wist(Philip). They have seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Dorothy worked at Sears & Roebuck for several years she also worked at the IRS for 23 years before retiring in December 1992.

She loved traveling and crocheting afghans for her loved ones. She was a KU basketball fan and loved the Chiefs. She also loved to watch the weather and to know. what the weather was going to be wherever family lived.

She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church since 1961.

Visitation will be 6-8PM, Wednesday, March 23 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be 10AM, Thursday, March 24 at Park Lawn Funeral Home; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
