Our beloved Mary Frances Jeanette Smith, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16th. 2019, at home. Jeanette was born May 10th 1937 in Lebanon, KY to Benedict and Mabel Mattingly. She was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters Elizabeth, Louis and three brother’s Allen, Frederick and Clelland Mattingly. She graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1954.
Jeanette was a seamstress at the age of 13; she made her own wedding dress in less than three weeks. She worked at the Lebanon Upholstery Shop and Telecom where she made transformers for radios, television and computers. Jeanette was an avid speed reader. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, a member of Central Christian Church (DOC) for over 40 years. She was an active church member serving in the Culinary Ministry, CWMF (Christian Women’s Ministry Fellowship), and Mission Ministry. She opened her home to anyone who shared an interest in studying the word of God, with a Bible Book study every Monday in her home. Jeanette treated you like royalty, serving crumpets and tea on real china, crystal and silverware. She loved cooking, and spending time with her family.
Jeanette married Alton B. Parker in 1954; to this union three children were born. Constance Norton (Verlie), Ronald and Curtis Parker. Jeanette later married John Ike Smith from this union one child was born, Valerie J. Smith. She leaves to cherish seven grandchildren; Veronica Lynette Cleaves (Michael), Chesla Renee` Mitchell, Micheal Thomas II (Nadia), Christopher Thomas (Laquece); Andre Richard Cottonhem, Ashley Garret, Phillip Brandon Isaac Smith; nine great-grandchildren; Kaliayah Jeanette Smith, Samariyay Smith, Micheal Thomas III, Mycah Thomas, Myora Slaughter, Jamal Anthony Mitchell, Briona Renee` Simmons, Michael Cortez Cleaves Jr, Zahir Alim Ragsdale.
Visitation services will be Saturday June 22, 2019 at 10-11AM, services at 11AM held at Central Christian Church (DOC) 3801 E. Linwood Blvd 64128, Pastor Antoine Lee; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
