Richard Alan Smith, 64, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away on May 7, 2019. Visitation will be at 5:00 PM followed by a memorial service beginning 6:00 PM, Thursday, May 16th at Park Lawn Funeral Home Chapel at 8251 Hillcrest Rd in Kansas City, MO.

Richard, one of five brothers, was born September 3, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy Smith and Laverna (Williams) Smith.  He was raised in Independence, Missouri, graduating from Van Horn High School in 1972 and went on to graduate from the University of Central Missouri with a BSBA in accounting in 1977. He was a founding member of Lone Jack Hope United Methodist Church. Richard was a credit and contract director at Standard Havens, ABC Roofing and Schenck Process. He was a family man who cherished spending time with his beloved children, grandchildren and extended family at his home in Lee's Summit. Other times he could be found at the Lake of the Ozarks "coving out" with all his friends and family.

Richard was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jacob and Ida Smith; maternal grandparents, Henry and Rosa Williams; his father, Roy Smith; mother, Laverna (Williams) Smith and brothers Russel Smith and Randal Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Patterson (Casteel) Smith of Lee's Summit, MO; brothers, Ronald Smith (Kathy) of Acworth, GA and Rodney Smith (Dale Ann) of Kearney, MO; daughter, Mackenzie Sainz (Joe) of Lee's Summit, MO; son, Harrison Smith (Alex) of Lee's Summit, MO; sister-in-law Pamela Gliddon (Andy) of DeRidder, LA; aunt, Juanita Villers of Liberty, MO; grandchildren, Rosalie Sainz, Maria Sainz and Antonella Smith of Lee's Summit, MO; nieces, Ashley Smith (Jamie) of Atlanta, GA, Shauna Greenfield (Jeremy) of Kansas City, MO, Kirstie Smith of Kansas City, MO and Lacey Bush (Mike) of Independence, MO; nephew Kyle Smith of Lawrence, KS, Johnie Patterson of Versailles, MO; great-nephew Maddox Smith of Atlanta, GA; great-niece Kali Christenson and many, many cousins.
