Whitney A. Smith

Whitney A. Smith passed away on February 10, 2022.  Whitney was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 31, 1931. He lived in the Kansas City area his whole life. On September 1, 1956, he married the love of his life, Dorothy L. (Gregory) Smith. They were married 65 years. They have three daughters, Myrna Jones (Daniel), Cheryl Anderson (August) and Linda Wist (Philip); seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Whitney served in the US Air Force. He worked at Cummins Mid America for forty years. He loved traveling and training for the MS150 on his bike. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church since 1961, where he sang in the choir for many years.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Kansas City, MO 64138; funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Park Lawn; burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.  Masks will be provided for those who need them.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 9420 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64138.
