Sophia Rosie Garcia

Sophia Rosie "Cookie" Garcia, 6 years old, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13th 2024, at Children’s Mercy Hospital  surround by her loving parents Beatriz and Marlon along with her unborn expected sister Elani, as well as her extended family. Everyone is invited to the celebration of Sophia's life at 3:00pm, Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, (1640 N MO 291 Hwy., Liberty, MO 64068).  Visitation will be 2:00 - 3:00pm Saturday prior to service.  Memorial contributions may be given to Children's Mercy Oncology Department in Sophia's memory. 

Sophia was born on August 21st, 2018, in Kansas City MO to Beatriz(Zavala) and Marlon Garcia. Sophia,  who's nickname s where "Cookie" or "Babysin"  was a very silly, loving, beautiful and sweet baby girl. She loved video games and was a rock star at every video game she ever played. She loved to sing, dance and horse play. Sophia was a very big fan of outdoor activities, including but not limited to, swimming, going to the park, fishing, flying her kite, climbing, riding her bike, and roller coasters. Sophia was also a big fanatic of all things Mario, and really enjoyed other stuff like Gabby’s Dollhouse, Pokémon and all things Disney. Sophia was the friendliest little girl that anyone could ever meet. She was very brave and faced everything with a laugh and a smile. 

Sophia is survived by her parents, Beatriz and Marlon Garcia, and her incoming newborn sister, Elani Ariel Garcia. Her grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins.  

The family would like to thank Children’s Mercy Hospital, the doctors and nurses of the Hematology/Oncology unit as well as their hospice team and the emergency room team for the wonderful care that Sophia received throughout her entire diagnosis. The family would also like to thank the University of Kansas Medical Center radiation team, the doctors and nurses, who were very dedicated toward Sophia’s radiation treatments and took great care of her.”
