Donna Maxine Spears

Donna Maxine Spears departed this life peacefully at home with her daughter at her side on October 5, 2022.

Donna was born on October 23, 1938 to Elmer and Edna Marie Tunley in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the third child born to this union. Donna’s Grandparents, Parents, Son, Kevin Earl Spears, Brother, William Leonard Tunley and Sister, Addie Pauline Byrd preceded her in death.

Donna was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. James Baptist Church in Westport, Kansas City. MO.

Donna attended school in the KC School District. Penn Elementary, R.T. Coles, Lincoln High and graduated from Westport High School in 1956.

Donna united in marriage to Clayton Spears in June, 1956. To this union, two children were born. Kevin Earl and Pamela Diane.

She was affectionately called GIGI by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donna retired in 1999 from Baptist Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service. She enjoyed working in the Healthcare Field helping others.

In 2000 Donna joined St. James United Methodist church under the leadership of Reverend Emanuel Cleaver II. She served as a greeter. She was a deeply caring and thoughtful lady who loved the Lord.

Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, working in her yard and collecting unique frogs.

She leaves to rejoice in her memory, Daughter, Pamela Reese (Joseph), Grandsons, Jonathan Reese and Joseph Reese. Granddaughter, Lawanda Reese. Six grandchildren. One Greatgrandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 12PM, with services to follow at 1PM, Wednesday, October 12 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
