Lois Maxine (Webb) Spurgeon, 93, of Lathrop, passed away February 27, 2019, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Lois’s life at 2:00 pm, on Friday, March 1, at Park Lawn Lathrop Chapel, 901 Clinton Street, Lathrop. Burial will follow in Lathrop Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lathrop Cemetery Association.
Lois was born May 27, 1925, in Smithville, MO, the eldest of seven children of Guy Rufus and Eva Florence (Warren) Webb. Along with her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Willis George Spurgeon; sons, Stanley Spurgeon and Steven Ray Spurgeon; five brothers and a sister. Lois worked many years for the Lathrop School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lathrop, and a former member of the TurneyMercy Sewing Circle and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include five children, Jim Spurgeon (Darlene), Gene Spurgeon (Diana), Donald Spurgeon (Lisa), Kay Parks (Dwight) and Patty Parks (Larry), daughter-in-law, Joann Spurgeon; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Service Information:Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Lois’s life at 2:00 pm, on Friday, March 1, at Park Lawn Lathrop Chapel, 901 Clinton Street, Lathrop. Burial will follow in Lathrop Cemetery.
