Remembering Krissie...

In one single breath our lives were forever changed as Kristel Reneé Hope Stahl joined not one, but two families on April 22, 2002. Krissie was born of love from her birth mama’s womb, and born of love from our hearts, her Daddy and Mama. For this child we have prayed. In one of the most selfless acts of love, Kim Mann blessed our family, allowing us, Kenton and SaraAnne Stahl, to be Krissie’s Daddy and Mama, and Kendra and KJ to be her Sissy and Bubbie. Oh, how we loved our Baby Angel!

From the time Krissie was wee, laughter became an ever-present part of our home and anywhere our cute little Skooterwompis happened to go be-bopping. Krissie’s bright blue eyes (and oddly sometimes bright green), and her big, joyful grin, captivated the hearts of all who were around her. When Krissie was in first grade, she chose to give her life over to Jesus, a decision which she fully lived out. She began her work of telling others about Jesus on the monkey bars and slides of Parowan Elementary School, often exclaiming to us when she came home about the lives that were changed because of Him! For several years, Krissie chose to have “Changing Lives” birthday parties, where party guests were asked to bring change instead of gifts to be given to different organizations, like a children’s hospital and a crisis pregnancy center. Krissie was loved by all of her teachers, classmates, coaches, and even her brother’s and sister’s friends. Krissie made a public declaration of her faith in Jesus when she was eleven by being baptized.

When Krissie was beginning fifth grade, we moved back to Kansas City, and Krissie quickly reconnected with people she’d known before. Like her brother and sister, Krissie became very involved in youth group at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and her love for spreading the Gospel was fostered and encouraged to grow. Krissie went on mission trips to Dallas, Greece, and Ecuador (two times!), and spent nearly an entire month on a medical mission trip in The Gambia, Africa when she was just fifteen years old! Krissie loved people, and she loved Jesus, and she loved telling people about her Jesus.

Krissie became “Auntie Krissie” when she was thirteen, and took that role very seriously. She walked her sister through labor and stood by her side while Krissie’s twin nieces spent two weeks in the NICU. Krissie was also very close with her big brother, and wanted to be just like him. Her love for driving with her windows rolled down and desire to be a first responder was inspired by him.

Whether she danced, swam, performed in musicals, played soccer, or fell down the stairs (which Krissie did often enough that it became a sport for her), she did so to the best of her abilities and with the most beautiful smile on her face. Krissie attended Northland Christian High School and was part of the Northland CAPS program where she had an internship with an ambulance and was able to live out her dream of being a first responder. She was passionate about saving lives - both physical and spiritual.

Because of Krissie’s generous heart and devotion to saving lives, we chose to gift her organs. Krissie’s story isn’t over - her organs were gifted to seven people who will have another chance to tell people about Jesus or come to know Him as well, including a fifteen-year-old girl who has been waiting for a new heart for a long time.

Our family will never be the same and our joyful, quick-witted, giving, compassionate daughter and sister has left a hole in our hearts that is massive and painful. Our grief is great. Our God is greater!

Krissie’s heart has been for the lost, the broken, the outcast, and the misunderstood. She often left her group of friends to seek out others. We plan to continue her legacy of loving and serving others well.

Krissie got to hug our Papa (Harald Rapp) and our very special Mr. Al (Alden Robb) on the day she met Jesus. There are others on this side of heaven remembering our sweet girl and waiting for the day we get to join her: her Mama and Daddy, Kenton and Sara Anne Stahl; Sissy, Kendra Moberly; Bubbie, Kenton "KJ" Stahl, Jr.; nieces, Audrey, Amelia and Kennedy (Bean); Gamma, Darlene Rapp, Grandpa and Grandma, Gary and Gloria Stahl; great grandmother, Mary Hofer; birth mama, Kim Mann and her son Shaun; GrandPa and Nana, John and Pepper Mann; as well as many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.

Krissie met Jesus on April 21, 2019, one day before her seventeenth birthday. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Krissie's life at 10:30 am, on Saturday, April 27, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will be at Glenridge Cemetery. We ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church’s Youth Scholarship Fund from which all three of our children have abundantly benefited.

We are so thankful that because of Jesus and because of His hope, this is not goodbye, simply - SEE YOU LATER, KRISSIE.
