Sharon M. Sterrett

July 27, 1944 — December 4, 2022

With her family by her side, Sharon Marie O'Rear Sterrett went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday December 4th in her Independence, Missouri home.

Sharon was born on July 27th, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to Orville and Gladys O’Rear.

Before marrying the love of her life of 58 years, she attended Raytown High School and was a Majorette/Dancer and active member of the Drama Club. Along with her friends, her favorite pastime was following the Doo Wop Group, “The Diamonds” which led her to being the President of their Fan Club. She attended Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, Missouri where she met her husband Dennis C. Sterrett.

Dennis and Sharon moved to Independence, Missouri and started raising a family. Sharon was a devoted wife and loving mother of three. She was a Homemaker, active member of the PTA, Campfire and Boy Scout Mom. She was Self Employed as a Mary Kay Cosmetic Consultant.

Together with her Husband, Sharon owned a Computer Business and also traveled all over the world. One of the most recent (and her favorite) places traveled was Costa Rica. This is where they would spend the Winter Months. If not traveling, Sharon spent her time enjoying being “Grandma Sharon '' to her six Grandchildren and one Great Grandson. She spent the last years before retiring as a Kitchen Coordinator at a local Montessori School where she was adored by all the children who would call her, “Miss Luncher Cooker”.

Sharon is preceded in death by her Parents, Orville and Gladys O’Rear, her older brother Cecil O’Rear, and sister Gayle Ashworth.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Sterrett of Independence MO; a Daughter, Stacy Sadey (Michael Sadey) of Lee’s Summit, MO; a son, Troy Sterrett of Lee’s Summit, MO; a daughter, Leah Lemley (Stephen Lemley) of Blue Springs, MO; and a Daughter-in-Law, Kristie Sterrett of Lee’s Summit, MO; Her darling Grandchildren, Cassidi Kitchler (Robert Kitchler) of Bowie, MD; Morgan Abernathey of Lees Summit, MO; Mackenzi Sterrett (Sean Smith) of Lee’s Summit, MO; John Abernathey of Lee’s Summit MO; TJ Sterrett of Lee’s Summit, MO; Lilijana Lemley of Blue Springs, MO; and Great Grandson, Hayes Smith.

She is also survived by her younger brother, Clifford O’Rear of Kansas City, MO; and NUMEROUS loving Family and Friends.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8th at 3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service starting at 4:00 pm. This will be located at Eagle Creek Church, 125 SE Stuart Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64082.

The Family would like to send out a Huge Thank You to Novus Home Healthcare and Hospice. In her honor, donations can be made to American Cancer Society and The Alzheimer’s Association.

Sharon is now watching from Heaven and so proud of her family. She will be missed greatly. May her memory be eternal!
