Joyce Darlene (Beitz) Swails, 91, St. Charles, MO, (Kearney, MO 1976-2014), passed to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her home (Cedarhurst Senior Living Center) after a long illness with heart failure. Her beloved husband, Kenneth of almost 70 yrs, and precious daughters, Susan and Sharon were at her side.
Joyce was born: November 13, 1927 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Elmer William and Mildred Irene (Dykes) Beitz. Joyce enjoyed her life-long relationship with her very dear loving sister, Juanita Myrle Nordeen. Her two brothers, Warren Gregory Beitz and Ronald Edward Beitz added joy and laughter in her life. She was a member of the Community of Christ church, being the fourth generation through her maternal side. She attended school at Muscatine High School. She enjoyed playing in the band, both in H.S. and college. Joyce graduated from Graceland College, School of Nursing, at the Independence School of Nursing. She married Kenneth Jay Swails from Clarksdale, MO, Dec. 27, 1949.
Her life was filled with serving her Heavenly Father through her medical knowledge, her enjoyment in volunteering with church and children’s activities, supporting her husband, Kenneth, with his Farmland Industries, INC excursions and Community of Christ duties. She taught her two daughter the importance of prayer and faith in God’s teachings. She was known as a loving, sensitive person, generous with time and devotion.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Greg, her son, Steven Edwin Swails, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Toebben.
Survivors include: her beloved husband, Kenneth J. Swails; precious daughters, Susan J. Mack (Doug, Flora, IL) and Sharon K. (Toebben) Abbott (Brian, St. Charles, MO); proud grandsons, Timothy G. Eisler, (Major USAF) Steven M. Toebben, and Daniel S. Eisler. Her step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also acknowledge the love she shared with them.
