John Hilmer Swanson

April 13, 1941 — December 2, 2022

John Hilmer Swanson, 81, of Greenwood, MO. Went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2022. He was born on April 13, 1941, to Hilmer and Annis in Fristoe, Missouri.

After high school, John moved to Kansas City and worked at Union Station. He went to college for computers and worked as a computer engineer. He retired from Black and Veatch.

Jon loved to travel- his favorite place in the world was Hawaii. When he wasn’t traveling, he loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

John is survived by two daughters, Penni Swanson-Gannaway and Jennifer LaMasters. Nine grandchildren, Pamela Ratzlaff (Kodee), Jonathan Swanson, Brittaney Gannaway, Timothy LaMasters jr. (Morgan), Keeley Gannaway, Samantha Gannaway, Tanner LaMasters, Mary Gannaway and Savannah Gannaway. Ten great-grandchildren, Tessa, Asher, Emersyn, Jaylee, Serenity, Cheveah, Kaiden, Journey, Zenobia and Isabella. Two siblings, Barbara Allen and Mary Swanson.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hilmer and Annis Swanson; brothers Eugene Swanson, George Swanson, Donald Swanson; sister Martha Warstadt; and grandson, Tyler LaMasters.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00PM, followed by service at 2:00PM, Saturday, December 10 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Kodee Ratzlaff, Timothy LaMasters Jr., Tanner LaMasters, Tim LaMasters, Don Brassfield and Jonathan Swanson.
