Albert “Al” Lee Swenson, Sr., age 87, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, in his home from natural causes. A visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Kansas City, MO. 64138. Graveside services will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. Memorials and contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Al was born August 19th, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Southwest High School before serving in the United States Army where he medalled in honors for Sharpshooter (Rifle), Expert (Carbine), and Good Conduct. After honorable discharge he transferred to serve in the USA Corps Reserves. Al was a successful self-made businessman who owned and operated C&S Screw Products and Commando Products, later merging the two under the Commando Products name for a combined 57 years, where he still went to work, every day. He applied great pride towards the businesses that he built, always dealing with personal integrity and was well respected for his dedicated work ethic.
Al was an avid trout fisherman and made 35 consecutive opening days at Bennett Springs State Park, no matter rain, flood, or snow. He brought more lunkers to shore than could be counted as he passed on the thrill of the catch to his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren.
Al is survived by his daughter, Karen Swenson; three grandchildren, Christina (and husband Michael) Weir, Kevin Swenson, Jr., and Preston (and wife Tyler) Swenson; five great-grandchildren, Lincoln Weir, Vivien Weir, Harper Weir, Adeline Weir, and Cooper Swenson. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. B. and Mildred Swenson; and sons, Kevin Swenson, Sr. and Albert Swenson, Jr.
