Tank, Mattie M.

May 18, 1937 — November 8, 2020

Mattie Mae Tank, age 83, of Grandview, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Mattie was born in Monticello, Arkansas on May 18, 1937 to Matthew and Ossie Vincent. She was a part of a large and loving family.

Mattie attended Drew High Training School. She was very active in all school activities and was known as one of the school’s best basketball players. She graduated from Drew High Training School in 1955.

After graduating from high school and getting married, Mattie created a career for herself as a caregiver. This career choice turned out to be the perfect niche for her. She was a sweet, loving and gentle person. Everyone who met her loved her.

She professed her love for Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of Greater Holy Temple of Church of God and Christ for many years under the leadership of the late Bishop CN Rucker, the late Dr. JC Haynes and the Bishop Travis Shockley. Later on, she became a faithful member of Redemption Ministries Church under the leadership of Superintendent, Thuston Packnett Sr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Ossie Vincent; two brothers and eight sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Turner Tank Jr., nephew (brother), Howard Vincent, nieces, Loraine and Bea (AKA my girls), two Godsons, Thuston Packnett Jr. and Jordan Cooper, several grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

To the Tank Family: We take this time to express our personal condolences to the family of Mattie M Tank. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this time of great sadness. I know that many are deeply grieved over the lost of Mattie. From what I know, she was one who truly cared about others. Then there are the remarks that others had made; saying that she was a loving, gentle person, who gave of herself. From these qualities, we truly understand why others loved being around her. If we as imperfect human can see theses fine traits in Mattie, then its reasonable to conclude that God has also taken notice of these fine traits. For what purpose? That in due time He would reward those who displays kind acts to others, One way that God rewards people is by reversing the effects of sin and death. Yes the restoring of life back to those who have died. AT John 5:28-29 God shows how people would be rewarded in the near future. The scriptures states that God would call to those in the grave, and that our many departed love ones would respond by standing up in life again. Did you know that just from reading these verses, that God is giving us His personal guarantee that life for many would be restored back to them. Then to help others develop strong faith in this promise, God has preserved nine accounts in the Bible that speaks about this wonderful blessing that will take place earth wide. Here is just one such example that is recorded at Acts 9:36-42. I hope that the entire family gets a chance to see how these verses will have great benefit to their love ones who have fallen asleep in death. Yes what a grand time period this will be when we will witness with our own eyes our love ones standing up in life again. So please keep this promise of God near your hearts at all times. Remember that when God makes a promise, it becomes reality, For it is impossible for God to lie. (Titus 1:2)
