Herman Stanley Tankersley, 94, of Liberty, MO, passed away July 4, 2022 at Liberty Hospital. He was surrounded by family in his final days.
Herman was born February 29, 1928, in Shirley, Arkansas, the youngest of nine children of Jess and Minnie (Elliott) Tankersley. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Herman was united in marriage to Peggy Jo Caldwell in April, 1953. His career in Quality Control spanned more than three decades at the Ford Motor Company. Herman was a member of Liberty Church of Christ and the UAW. He loved to garden and enjoyed giving away vegetables to family and friends.
Along with his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy; an infant son, Ronnie; and eight siblings.
Survivors include his children, Glenda Bell (Jim Harding) and Monty Tankersley (Terri); grandchildren, Wendy Edwards (Jason), Joshua Bell, Cassandra Polys (Robbie) and Clayton Tankersley; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by his funeral service at 11:00 am, on Thursday, July 7, at Liberty Church of Christ, 1401 Glenn Hendren Drive, Liberty, MO. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.
