Sr. Carl Herman Terry

May 12, 1928 — March 30, 2019

Carl Herman Terry, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2019, at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by Masonic services at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 3, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.

Carl was born in Ward, West Virginia on May 12, 1928. He was a coal miner for 14 years until moving to Ladue, MO to a new job as a timekeeper for Phillips Petroleum and later Missile Base Projects. He finally retired in 1993 from Par Electric.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Clara Terry; brother, John; sisters, Ellen, Goldie, Inie and Flossie; and son, Eddie Terry. Survivors include his wife of 73½ years, Louise; daughters, Janice Hess (Jerry) and Neva Crippen; sons, Carl “Sonny” Terry, Jr. and Glenn Terry (Diane); and sister, Judy Pickle (Darrel). He was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Carl was a very active Mason for 66 years. He was Past Master of all five lodges he belonged to and had numerous titles…R.W.B. Carl H. Terry, P.D.D.G.M. & P.D.D.G.L. Carl has been called “Mr. Mason” for numerous years and was avid about Freemasonry. The list goes on and on. Carl never met a stranger, always had an outstretched hand and made hundreds of friends in being “that man”. Carl was also a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, 57-year member of Ararat Shrine Temple, a member of East Gate Masonic Lodge and the Travelers Club.

Service Information:

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by Masonic services at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 3, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
