Queen Corine Estelle Thomas
Born to Thomas Stephen Thomas and Essie Mae Greene on May 19, 1939 in Barnwell, South Carolina. Due to our Queen being born at home, and the time of her birth, they weren't able to register her birth until the next day, May 20, 1939. After the Lord called her father home, the family moved to Jersey City, New Jersey. Our Queen attended Lincoln High School. She attended church every Sunday, and any day in between that they needed to be, with her mother and siblings. On the 28th of August in 1963, our Queen was in attendance at Lincoln Memorial, to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. give his "I have a dream" speech. Our Queen moved to Los Angeles, California. Here she married and lived a few blocks from the heart of the Watts Riots in 1965. Giving birth to her oldest daughter, Lorraine, on April 20, 1966. Our Queen moved back to Jersey City in 1967-1968. She worked several years for the Division of Family Services. Our Queen gave birth to her second and youngest daughter, Joisha, on September 18, 1978, and then her only son, Thomas, on June 14, 1980. Our Queen moved to Kansas City, Missouri in January of 1985. She had obtained several jobs before being blessed to become a Medical Transcriber for Research Medical Center, retiring from there at 65 years old. Our Queen is a Breast Cancer Survivor, our Queen made history, and fought many battles big and small. And not only for herself, but for others as well. She tackled life situations with strength, love, grace, and guidance from God, whom she was nothing without His Word. Our Queen leaves her legacy to her baby sister Roseanne Wheeler (Elizabeth, New Jersey), nine grandchildren; Sonoma, Crystal, Briana, Jay, Hadea, Gijuan, David, Alexandria, and Merida, and nine great-grandchildren; Emori, Nykil, Sa'Myra, A'Laiya, Antione, Charlie, C'Yerra, C'Yonna, and Cayden, cousin Frank Ford (Jersey City, NJ) along with many more nieces, nephews, and cousins. Thank you Mommie, Grandma, and Nana, for loving us, guiding us, teaching us, fussing at us and preparing us for life. Not until we look back do we see the whole picture God has painted. You are what true Queens are made of; Faith, Courage, Strength, and Love. We will miss you dearly, we will laugh and cry at the many stories we will tell and hear. Enjoy Heaven, and we know we will see you soon.
