Thomas Easley

October 22, 1955 — October 3, 2024

Liberty, Missouri

Thom Easley (Raider Thom), age 68, passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2024. Thom was born on October 22, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to Billie and Norma Easley. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1973.

Thom married Wendy Welsh in 2018. They met at a pool party in 1998 and were rarely apart from that point on. Thom has one daughter Megan (Easley) Smith from a previous marriage.

Thom worked for Clay County Parks and Rec for 21 years. He graduated from Toro University with a certificate in small engine repair. He put his talent for repairing and fabricating to good use at Smithville Lake. He retired in 2022.

Thom was outgoing, he never met a stranger! He was also generous and would do anything he could for his family and friends.

He enjoyed BBQing and smoking meats. He and Wendy enjoyed hosting parties together. Liberty Fall Festival was his favorite time and he enjoyed hosting a huge party for the Saturday parades. His favorite football team was The Raiders, but his friends forgave him and it became a very funny rivalry.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Ruth Potter, grandfather Harry Potter and father Billie Easley.

Thom is survived by his wife Wendy Welsh, daughter Megan Smith, stepdaughter Jennifer Welsh, mother Norma Easley, sister Devota (Easley Jones) and black cat named Buddy.

He will be privately laid to rest by his family at Glenridge Cemetery following cremation. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, October 6th at (where else) The Landing. His friends turned out in force and kept everyone laughing with their favorite stories, that was the way Thom wanted to be remembered, with laughter and love.
