Thompson, Frieda D.

June 11, 1942 — October 3, 2021

Frieda Dell Thompson, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed into the arms of our heavenly Father on October 3, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House. Cremation memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12 at Crown Pointe Church 5950 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64064.

Frieda was born in Booneville, Missouri on June 11, 1942 to Robert and Eulas Kosfeld. She was united in marriage to Mark E. Thompson on June 8, 1962. She retired at an early age from the Kansas City Star and went on to work at the church until early 2019. She loved attending church services and visiting with her church family until earlier this year when her failing health began to prevent her from it.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mark (2018), her parents and two sisters, Bobbie Burke (1999) and Ella Jean Fahnstock (2016). Survivors include her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Renee Thompson of Lee’s Summit; one grandson, Ryann Thompson and wife Ashley, and two great-grandsons; Reece (5) and Liam (2) of Blue Springs, sister Rebecca (Michael) Stigall of Springfield, and numerous nieces and nephews of whom she loved very much. She also leaves behind her cherished Chihuahua “Boomer.”

Thank you to Frieda’s care team at Saint Luke’s Home Health and Hospice. And a very special thank you to Teresa Kohler and the two Angels who live across the street, Claudia Guardiola and Jacky Contreras- we don’t know what we would have done without you!

To the Thompson Family: We are truly sorry to hear about the recent passing of Frieda D Thompson. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this time of great sorrow. For now we find ourselves reflecting back on the many precious times that we enjoyed with Frieda. And although the treasured memories of Frieda are good, in plan truth, we rather have the real Freida back among the living. Our thinking on this matter or concern is not unrealistic. God would also want us to have the real person back with us. In fact He has informed us in the pages of the Bible that He would soon use His great powers to restore life back to a great host of people. Yes what outstanding love God has for His earthly family. ( John 3:16) The restoring of life back to those who have died is recorded at John 5:28-29. There God tells us that He would call to those in the grave to stand up in life again. From the above verses, God is really giving us His personal guarantee that life will be restored back to our departed love ones. Although some may find time promise something that is hard to put faith in, we must remember that God is the source of life for all creative things. Even if something dies, it can be made whole again. (Psalm 36:9) He wants to make Freida, and others whole again. He wants Freida and others to be reunited back with their many family members and friends. Then to help all to develop strong faith in this future promise, God has preserved nine accounts in the Bible that speaks about this wonderful blessing from God. Here is just one such example that is recorded at Acts 9:36-42. I hope that all will get a chance to see how these verses apply to your love ones in a very special way. In closing we say to all to please keep this promise of God near your hearts at all times. Remember that when God makes a promise, it becomes reality. For it is impossible for God to lie. ( Titus 1:2)

Frieda was a woman with a big heart, always sharing fun and time with our family. She cared about the people of God, church and family. I lost touch for a few years but we will do a sit down and catch-up in Heaven. You are gone but never forgotten. Love, Venda (cousin) and Gene Horne
