Frieda D. Thompson

June 11, 1942 — October 3, 2021

Frieda Dell Thompson, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed into the arms of our heavenly Father on October 3, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Hospice House. Cremation memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12 at Crown Pointe Church 5950 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64064.

Frieda was born in Booneville, Missouri on June 11, 1942 to Robert and Eulas Kosfeld. She was united in marriage to Mark E. Thompson on June 8, 1962. She retired at an early age from the Kansas City Star and went on to work at the church until early 2019. She loved attending church services and visiting with her church family until earlier this year when her failing health began to prevent her from it.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mark (2018), her parents and two sisters, Bobbie Burke (1999) and Ella Jean Fahnstock (2016). Survivors include her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Renee Thompson of Lee’s Summit; one grandson, Ryann Thompson and wife Ashley, and two great-grandsons; Reece (5) and Liam (2) of Blue Springs, sister Rebecca (Michael) Stigall of Springfield, and numerous nieces and nephews of whom she loved very much. She also leaves behind her cherished Chihuahua “Boomer.”

Thank you to Frieda’s care team at Saint Luke’s Home Health and Hospice. And a very special thank you to Teresa Kohler and the two Angels who live across the street, Claudia Guardiola and Jacky Contreras- we don’t know what we would have done without you!
