Phyllis L. Thorp

May 24, 1933 — March 17, 2021

Phyllis Lee (Boyle) Thorp, “Mimi”, was born May 24, 1933 in Lathrop, Missouri. She was the youngest of twelve children born to William and Bessie Boyle. Phyllis loved her large family and growing up in a rural community on a farm. She cherished her Lathrop friend connections all her life.

Her first marriage to James Conrick gave her two children, Pamela (Conrick) Fouts and Timothy Edward Conrick (deceased). Phyllis worked at R.B. Jones, Braniff Airlines as a flight attendant, Investors Diversified Services and Goforth Clothing Store. She was also a dedicated volunteer at Truman Medical Center Lakewood.

Phyllis married Virgil Thorp in 1966. They enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends and were long time members of Peace Lutheran Church. Always stylish, she loved playing bridge, reading, her pets and was a proud grandmother and great grandmother.

Phyllis treasured spending time at their cabin at Lake of the Ozarks. Ironically, she never learned to swim, even after years of repeated attempts. If you saw a pretty lady tethered to her dock wearing every flotation device imaginable – that was Phyllis. She LOVED it.

She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Edward Conrick, stepdaughter Cheryl Adams, her parents and all of her siblings.

Phyllis is survived by her loving, 100 year old husband, Virgil, her daughter Pamela (Duane) Fouts and her son Monty (Lucy) Thorp. Known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Rachel (David) Feyerabend, Allison (Thomas) Gensch, Lauren Fouts, Lori (Dave) Reeves and Scott (Regina) Michaels. She is also survived by great grandchildren Liam, Nora and Owen Feyerabend, Lori’s children Brianna and Kaitlynn, and Scott’s children Amber, Bailey, Heather, Sam and Amos.

Phyllis was very proud of her Irish heritage so it seems fitting that she passed away on St. Patrick’s Day.
