Toni Marie Rice

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Toni Marie Rice, a remarkable and selfless woman with so much love to give to those around her. Toni was 52 years old when her courageous and long battle of health came to an end on June 29th, 2024.

Toni was born on October 19th, 1971, in Hayward, California. She was a California native and resided there for half her life until her relocation to Kansas City, Missouri, to be closer to family. Toni was a free-spirited soul whose unwavering support and boundless love will forever continue to live on in the hearts of her cherished children and grandchildren. 

Toni was brilliant and accomplished; she didn’t believe in mistakes, hated staying quiet, and was the definition of a strong and independent woman. She will be remembered for being the queen of horror, for her love of dark oddities, for her passion for karaoke, and for her love of classic rock. 

Toni was known for her contagious laugh, her beautiful ferocity, and her generous heart. She loved her friends, having fun, and living her life to the fullest. She was funny, and was the life of every room she walked into, she talked loud and laughed even louder. Toni was a proud Latina and loved sharing her culture with those around her. She was a terrible driver and was a die-hard Raiders fan. 

Toni’s kindness and compassion touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a woman who brightened and impacted our world.

Toni is survived by her children Steven, Christopher, and Tatianna; grandchildren Aubrey, Emilia, Hazel, and Payton; father Jose Luis; sister Connie; brother Juan; maternal grandmother Anne; as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins, and other assorted family members and many caring friends.

Toni is preceded in death by her daughter Terri Lynn, mother Kathleen, maternal grandfather John, paternal grandfather Benito, and paternal grandmother Esther. 

A celebration of life will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, July 13th  at  American Legion Post 61, 5125 N Bellaire Ave., Kansas City, MO 64119. As Toni prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same—come celebrate and honor her memory with us!
