Mary Allene Travis passed away in the morning hours of April 2, 2022. She was 69 years old. Mary was preceded in death by her parents (Charles & Ruby Wilds) and step father (Irving Russell) brothers (Robert and Johnnie Wilds), son (Clark Sharp IV), and granddaughter (Kymbur Sharp). She leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years James Travis, son and daughter in law Shane & Maria Sharp, daughter and son in law Lorraine & Jeremy Ragsdale, grandson and granddaughter in law Alan and Brooke Sharp, grandson Matthew Sharp, and great grandson Bryon Sharp.
Mary was born October 5, 1952 at Research Hospital to Charles and Ruby Wilds. She attended schools in the Independence School district. During her time there she was involved in track and music. In the mid 70’s thru 1979 she was a teacher at Salisbury Hills Christian Schools. It was there she met her future husband James Travis. They were married there at Salisbury Hills Baptist Church on November 19, 1977.
Mary worked as a telemarketer from home to be able to stay home with her newborn. She was a telemarketer from 1985 thru the early 90s. In the early 90s she began working at the JCPenneys distribution center and stayed there thru 2002. In 2003 she began working for Cartwright International until her retirement in Spring of 2019.
Mary loved being in and on the water, whether that be in a boat or a pool. Like any true Missourian she enjoyed Silver Dollar City and all of Branson’s many attractions. She made sure stops were made at both Osceola Cheese and Lamberts café. She also enjoyed watching medical dramas, HGTV home improvement shows, and the occasional chick flick. Above all else, her family was her number one love. Her happiest moments were always when her family was around. There were numerous camping trips to Truman Lake, as well as excursions to Walt Disney World and the surrounding theme parks in Florida. During her later years, Mary and James went on several cruises to the Bahamas and the islands of the Western Caribbeans on DIsneys Cruise Line. Her favorite stop was always the private island of Castaway Cays.
Any one who crossed Mary’s paths loved her. Her heart was pure gold and her smile was infectious. She will be missed more than she will ever know.
