Verna Mae Tripp

Verna M. Tripp, 94, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away December 4, 2019. Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 at 1:00 pm, followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm and burial immediately following. The services will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO and the interment in Green Lawn Cemetery.

Verna was born November 2, 1925 in Dodge City, Kansas to Loyd and Rachel Smith. Her entire family moved to Arkansas when she was very young. She spent her late teens and early twenties working as a waitress in Kansas City, Missouri.

She married Clifton W. Tripp on October 4, 1947 and they lived happily for 62 years together until she lost him in death on August 13, 2009. She is preceded in death also by her parents; infant son, Wilford Lee Tripp; sons-in-law, Jerry Johnson and Ted Fuller; 2 sisters and 8 brothers. She is survived by her children, Donna LaPointe (husband Joe), Jean Johnson, Jane Tripp and Tina Fuller; grandchildren, Stephanie Maltese, Brian Hall, April Hodges (husband Jeff), Brandon Johnson (wife Natalie), Ryan Fuller (wife Michelle), Rachel Vickers, Katie Sheppard (husband Brad), Abbey Ashton (husband Harry), Grant Fuller (wife Ivy); great grandchildren, Zachary, Alex, Neil, Jeremy, Jameson, Tyler, Brayden, Kylie, Henley, Maisy and was expecting another great grandchild in May of 2020.

Verna was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized on January 27, 1979. She firmly believed in God’s Kingdom and how it will bring an end to all of mankind’s problems and suffering, including death. She looked forward to the resurrection of the dead and she knew that her God, Jehovah, would remember her and reunite her with all of her family and friends again on a paradise earth.

Besides her God, her family and her friends, she loved flowers, jewelry making, coloring and playing games. Her kind and sweet demeanor, generous and loving heart, unbelievable strength, faith and loyalty will be missed by all who knew her.

Her family offers their appreciation and thanks to all who have given their support, prayers and kindness through these difficult times.
