Ross Dean Troutner

Ross Dean Troutner February 10, 1947 – May 30, 2021 in Lathrop, Missouri. Ross passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2021. Ross was born in Kansas City, KS and later moved with his family to Cameron, MO where he would spend his high school years playing at proms and parties as the lead singer in a cover band. After graduation from Cameron High School, Ross served as SP4 in the 101st Airborne Division in the United States Army. Ross was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. He received the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his honorable service in the Vietnam War.

Ross had a long and successful career in logistics and transportation in Kansas City. He was a life-long, devoted Royals, Chiefs and MU Football fan and enjoyed spending time camping, fishing and coaching his children’s softball, baseball and little league football games. He will be remembered for his love of family and his great passion for celebrating life with family and friends. He will be missed dearly by many.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Elizabeth “Betty” Troutner. Ross is survived by two daughters and a son and their families: Toby and Scott Walton, of Kansas City, MO, Jill and Brian Harlow and their children Elizabeth and Ava, of Tucson, AZ and Jason and Lara Troutner and their children Jacob, Gabrielle and Nathan, of Overland Park, KS. He is also survived by his brothers, Randy Troutner and his wife, Bobbie, of Kansas City, MO and Phillip Troutner and his wife, Tammy of Kearney, MO.

A private service will be held on June 4, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arrangements by Park Lawn Northland Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to your local Veterans of Foreign War chapter.
