Truman W. Murphy, 95, Kansas City Northland, passed away peacefully October 27, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel (1640 North State Hwy 291, Liberty, MO 64068) Visitation will be from 1-2pm prior to the service. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO. Memorial Contributions may be given to Monarch Hospice (800 E. 101st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64131) in memory of Truman.

Truman was born in Clay County, Missouri on July 8, 1929 the youngest of four children born to Leslie A. and Mable Jane (Heath) Murphy. He grew up in Clay County and attended North Kansas City Schools. 

Truman met the love of his life Patricia McCleery at a church function in North Kansas City. They were married May 27, 1949 and where blessed with two lovely daughters. 

In 1951 Truman was drafted into the US Army and served his country proudly during the Korean conflict. He was released from active duty in 1953 and return to North Kansas City where he and Pat raised their family. Truman worked for the William Volker Company until 1972 when he opened Northland Carpets. After more than 20 years in the carpet business Truman retired to enjoy life with Pat. They would just get into their motorhome and go everywhere. One of their favorite destinations was going to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. They enjoyed going to Arizonia and Florida and many other places. Hawaii was always one of there favorite vacations. 

Truman and Pat enjoyed having game night with family and friends on a regular basis playing a variety of card and board games. They also enjoyed attending church revivals. Truman enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, as well as watching a variety of gameshows. The one thing Truman enjoyed most was spending time with his daughters and their families. 

A long with his parents Truman was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 year Patricia, one daughter Deborah Prindle, grandson Ryan Martin, siblings Donald, Gladys and Howard. 

He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Chaney (Mark), grandchildren Tonya Darst (Chris) Amy Bainbridge (Aaron) and Brandon Chaney. Great grandchildren Madelynn, Ryan and Tristan; as well as other family members and friends.
