Tyler Christopher Kinney, 29, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2023, in Costa Rica. He was born in Shawnee, Kansas, on November 22, 1993, to loving parents Brian Christopher and Tammy Ann Kinney. He was born with a heart of gold and a big smile for everyone he met.
Tyler was a true storyteller. Tyler spent most of his early life entertaining his family with very incredible tall tales. To listen to Tyler tell a story (whether tall or not) was truly magical.
At the age of 18, in June of 2012, Tyler met Abby Newsham, and their love story began. After six years of being together, they exchanged vows on September 1, 2018, at the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. They built a beautiful home and life together, filled with many cherished memories and close friends.
Tyler was an incredible landscape artist with the gift of designing and creating some of the most beautiful and engaging landscapes all over Kansas City, including Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas City Power & Light District, and countless homes and businesses. Tyler was a true student of life. He enjoyed creating art, making music, exploring the outdoors on his bike and rock climbing, traveling, and making at least one new friend everywhere he went.
Tyler's enormous heart, great sense of humor, laugh, generosity, loyalty, and incomparable presence will be missed immeasurably by all those who knew him.
Tyler is survived by his wife Abby Kinney; father Brian Kinney; sister Hailey Gomez (J.L.); nephew and niece Isaiah and Mia Gomez; maternal grandmother Lois Walters (Sam Parisa); aunt Kathy Kinney; uncle Bryce Kinney (Tracy); uncle Barry Kinney; uncle Chad Milligan (Jennifer); and many cousins and friends.
Tyler is preceded in death by his mother Tammy Kinney; Samuel Milligan (maternal grandfather); and Edwin and Barbara Kinney (paternal grandparents).
