Beverly Hersey Untrif, of Blue Springs, Missouri, died of natural causes on Christmas Day, 2021. She was 87 years old.
Beverly will be remembered lovingly by her three daughters, Ginger (Richard) Rhodes of Seattle, WA, Denise (Mark) Lynn of Lee's Summit, MO, and Sheryl (Bill) Reigel of Blue Springs, MO; and a granddaughter, Brooke Lynn of Overland Park, KS. Survivors also include a nephew, Dru Applequist of Kansas City, MO; nieces Vicki Hylton and Susan Mulally, both of Platte City, MO; as well as other family members and many friends. A son, Brenton Kim Hersey, died when a toddler.
Stephen Untrif, Beverly’s husband of more than 60 years, preceded her in death by one day less than a year. Beverly nurtured Steve in his final year, moving into an assisted living facility with him and assuring his care, rarely leaving his side.
Beverly was born July 10, 1934, in Sarcoxie, MO, and grew up and attended school in Richey, MO. Her parents, B. K. Hersey and Helen (Cromer) Hersey preceded her in death. While raising her children, Beverly enjoyed crafting as a hobby and was known among her friends for her abilities as a seamstress. When her children were older, she used those skills to work selling notions and to teach sewing and tailoring.
Beverly partnered with her husband in the Masonic fraternity and in Ararat Shrine. Beverly and Steve were active socially; their large annual Independence Day parties were legendary.
