Earnest Leo “Earnie” Vater passed away on September 19th at Research Medical Center at the age of 61.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Joseph and Margaret Ellen Vater. He is survived by his children Michael Vater of Lee’s Summit and Kayla (Ben) Keating of Belton.

He was born on January 10th, 1959 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Raytown South High School in 1977. He retired from AT&T after 30 years as a cable splicer.

Visitation will be 1-3PM, Saturday, September 26 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.; 3PM graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, please remember that masks are required.

I knew Ernie for years, met him when we both worked at SBC in Grandview. Ernie always wore bib overalls, you could pick him out of everyone, very likable . I’m very sorry for your loss. I’ll miss him. My prayers are with Cindy and the family.
