Veronica "Vera" Mamie

Veronica “Vera” Jean Mamie Stoll, 95, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. 

She was born during a blizzard on January 7, 1929 in Clyde, MO to Michael and Marguerite Stoll. Despite a fall that resulted in a broken arm, she fondly remembered riding her pony Diamond to school when she was young.

Vera moved to Kansas City, MO not long after graduating from high school. She attended business school and had her first job with Russell Stover Candies. 

After a blind date set up by mutual friends, she married William “Bill” Mamie in 1956 and they had four children together. She was passionate about family and her children remember her as loving, giving, and caring. She was a devout Catholic that regularly attended Sunday services. She was a school bus driver for 25 years for the North Kansas City school district. When she wasn’t tending to her beautiful flower gardens you knew she was spending quality time with her family. In their later years, she and Bill attended several car shows every year. More than once they were spotted cruising around Kansas City in their red IROC Z Camaro convertible.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, and her three sisters. Vera is survived by her son Stephen (Janice), daughter Mary, daughter Debra (Scott), and daughter Valerie (Doyle) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 21, 2024, 1:00 pm at the North Resurrection Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to attend.
