Johnny Waxter, age 94, passed away December 18, 2019. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Park Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Johnny Waxter was born to Lucy Waxter June 2nd 1925 in Hattiesburg Mississippi. His birth mother, Lucy unfortunately passed away at his birth. His loving sister Laura Mosley raised Johnny up from then on. Johnny went to be with the lord on December 18 2019 in Kansas City, Mo. Johnny went to school in Louisiana where he also learned short hand graduated from. He went to serve our country in the Navy during WWII. He moved to Kansas City, Mo and started a life of his own. He was employed at T.B hospital and Pollution Control (water company of KCMO). He then met the love of his life Mae Della Dean in Kansas City, Mo. These two met through Mae’s brother Bobby Dean, whom was great friends with Johnny. These two married in August 26, 1971. He retired from Pollution Control (water company of KCMO). Johnny was always a beautiful person with a bright personality. Once he met you he could he never forget you. He was a god fearing man, he attended church with his sisters and family. Johnny enjoyed to cook, fish, cards, watching cowboys and cartoons, he enjoyed being around is family and having great conversations. He leaves behind his children Reggie Waxter (Debra), Cynthia Waxter, mothered by (Ruth Gordon). Step children Debroah Dawn (Nathaniel), Nollie Knighten (Betty), Clara Boxly, and Yvonne Jones, mothered by his wife (Mae Della Waxter). He leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Lucy; his sisters: Laura Mosley, Alberta Waxter, Sofia Patrick, Candice Waxter and his brothers, James Waxter and J.W. Waxter; son: Darrell Waxter; stepdaughter: Rosa Lee Knighten; grandson: Reggie Waxter Jr.; grandaughter: Donnetta “Doe” Knighten; great grandson: Gerard Knighten.
