Edward William Whiteman, DDS, 98, of Liberty, MO, passed away March 10, 2022, at his home.

Edward was born February 29, 1924, in Warrensburg, MO, one of five children of Arley Floyd and Hattie Elizabeth (Ringeisen) Whiteman. He graduated from College High School in Warrensburg.

Edward served in the US Army during World War II, including tours in Central Europe and the Philippines. He received honorable discharge as Tec 5 on March 8, 1946.

Edward was united in marriage to Edna May Brewer on May 27, 1948. He later received his Dental degree from the UMKC School of Dentistry in 1952 and the couple moved to Liberty where Edward established his dental practice. Dr. Whiteman served the town of Liberty in his dental practice more than 50 years, and was known fondly as "Doc" by many patients and friends.

Edward and Edna were longtime members of Liberty United Methodist Church.

Along with his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Edna; brothers, Charles Whiteman and Floyd Whiteman; and sisters, Beatrice Whiteman and Florene Collins.

Survivors include four children, Kyle Whiteman, Kim Ackerson, Kurt Whiteman (Debbie) and Kellie Leslie (Rick); eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Whiteman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Saturday, April 2, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Private graveside services with military honors will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Liberty United Methodist Church.

As new to the Liberty area in 1984 we had the pleasure of being Ed and Edna's backyard neighbors. We all became fast friends and enjoyed our friendship for almost 40 years. Godspeed to both Ed and Edna. They were special people !!!! Sorry we won't be able to attend the service, we will be out of town that weekend. With Love and Respect, Scott Page
