We were so saddened to hear of the loss of your son, Zach. Although we didn’t know Zach we can only imagine that he was also an example of the wonderful traits and Christian characteristics we see in his parents and sister, Katie, who we have known. And from all the wonderful things written about him here he was certainly an exceptional person and a pleasure to be around. Our love and prayers for you Gregg and Ann and girls.

I first met Zach when we were in Mrs. Stover's first grade class together at Lewis and Clark Elementary, and he was as kind to me then as he was in 2015 when we graduated from the WJC Political Science department together. Through all our years of attending school together, he greeted me and asked how I was every single time we crossed paths (and he really cared about the answer!). Zach always possessed a unique sense of caring that I'll remember fondly. It was a privilege to be his classmate for 16 years. Sending thoughts and condolences to the Whittaker family; I am so sorry for your loss.

Hello, I was taking classes with Zach online this semester. Although I didn't know him personally, I always enjoyed reading his insightful posts on the class discussion board. He was so passionate about getting into the dental field and always was a motivation for me. I found out about him through our professor this morning and I'm just shocked beyond words! I pray his soul rests in peace and may God grant all of his family members the patience and strength to deal with this difficult situation. My heartfelt condolences to everyone. Syeda

My heart bleeds for you and your family, Ann. I never had the pleasure of meeting your children but knowing you and your values, I am confident that all three are wonderful examples of your love for each other. I know these cannot be easy times to bear but there are many in your extended family that will support you when the going gets tough. Knowing that Zach had a deep fellowship with Our Lord, I hope you can find solace in the fact that Zach is with Him now. RIP Zach....

What a great and terrible loss. I liked Zach so much. I thought He was James Dean “cool”. I was very impressed with his passion in life. We talked of playing golf together often , but only did once. I wish We would have made more time. I’m sure we would have had he stayed in Kearney. He asked if I could write a letter of recommendation to dental school. I didn’t hesitate for a second. He would have been brilliant. Find paradise Zach. My heart goes out to all who loved you.

Dr. Tom Crain

Zach was a morning person like me. We spent many mornings talking about our job, families and what was going on in the world around us. Thank you Gregg and Ann for raising such an amazing, kind hearted man. Zach was not afraid to share his faith. I will cherish all the memories of our time together.

Rebecca Stauch

It's impossible to express how incredibly sad my family and I are to hear about this unimaginable loss. Zach was an incredibly kind, joyful, and gentle person, and he was truly exceptional at his job. His warm nature truly touched my family. He took the time to listen to my mom during a difficult time with dental treatment, and he made visiting the dentist something to look forward to. No matter what was going on, Zach always made time to tell stories about his beloved family, chat about current events, or offer to pick up milkshakes for us. He was a truly special man. May God bless your family.

Ashley Minnich

You were like another son to me Zach! We had some great times at Yankee Games and on the tennis court. May God bless you and your family always! Miss you already.

Gregg, Ann, Katie, and Hannah, we can never understand fully the loss that you have experienced, but please know that we are concerned and hold you in the center of our thoughts and prayers. It was our joy to see Zach grow up and mature as our across-the-street neighbor.

To Zach's family: we mourn the loss of your cherished brother and son. He will be very missed. It was a pleasure to work with Zach at the Kearney DDS location, and we certainly enjoyed hearing about his quest to begin dental school. Such a bright young man. We are praying for your family and all of Zach's friends during this difficult time.

Dr. Nick & Amanda Schuier

I will forever cherish the friendship Zach and I had. You made sure that I felt appreciated & always thanked me for the hard work that I did at work. I will never forget you. I’ll miss you standing behind me while I adjust dentures asking “is it weird to watch you work?” lol I would always look at you funny then reply no because I truly enjoyed your company. To his parents - you raised such a nice caring gentlemen & I thank you for that. He was one of the most kind hearted people I have met and that’s hard to come by anymore. I’ll never forget your everyday work attire as flannels(the only 2-3 you wore) & the same khakis usually. ❤️ You will be missed by many.

Megan Graham

Ann, Gregg and family, My heart is broken for you as you experience the pain of losing Zach. After reading these wonderful tributes to him, I wish I had personally known this remarkable young man. Knowing you, Ann, his mother as one of the kindest people on earth, his attributes are no surprise. Zach's strong faith shines like a beacon of hope through every tribute. May Jesus bring you comfort and strength and peace.

Rita Pickering

No greater loss than a child, my heart has been breaking for you Ann, Gregg and your daughters. What an outstanding son you raised and a blessing to so many that knew him. I never met him, but knowing you Ann, I would have seen the bright light surrounding him as a gift to anyone who were fortunate to be called a friend and so clearly expressed by friends and family. May you find strength through your faith in our Lord and Savior and peace that Zach was greeted by his grandparents and cousins to his eternal home.

Marcia Reid

Zach was incredibly kind and had the most caring heart from any person I have met in 50 years. I couldn’t believe his ability to navigate all the challenges dentistry faces as such a young man. He was not only wise, but super driven to always achieve higher or help better in any way. His accomplishments were unbelievable in scholastics and athletics and in life. My family and I have said many thoughtful prayers to his beloved family in their time of grief and sadness. To Zach, my friend I know you’re with Jesus now and I picture him hugging you with a big smile on your face as you always do. I’ll see you in the future bro and know you’re deeply loved here. God Bless you Brian

Dr. Brian Jenkins

Gregg, Ann and Family, although I only met Zachary a couple of times, I know he was the sunshine in your life and knowing how much love you have to give, this loss must be unspeakable. Gina and I want you to know you are all in our hearts and thoughts and we love you very much. Gregg, you have always been an inspiration to me personally and professionally and I wish words could express how sorry we are for you guys.

David and Gina Schwartz

I could never beat Zach into the office, no matter how early I got up. He had a work ethic like no other. There was never a job beneath him as he wanted to lead his team by example. He always put the patient first. I remember one of the first weeks that he worked for me he called me and wanted to know what type of payment plan I could give him so he could pay for this patients surgery. He wouldn't take no for an answer and gave me like 5 different ways he was wanting to pay it off. I had to explain that if I let him do this he would never earn a dime at this job. I helped him understand that we would get them the best deal they could afford. From then on, he would do the best deal he could for anyone that walked in the door. He never wanted finances to be the reason a patient didn't get the help they needed. Patients recognized the kind spirit he carried and were drawn to it. He will be deeply missed.

Blair Cox

Whitt, I’ll never forget all the good times we had at your house and Matt’s house, all the pick up basketball games we played at churches all over liberty, and of course the good times we had playing baseball together. I hate the fact that we didn’t stay in touch more after college but I will cherish every moment we had together. You will forever be one of the funniest people I have ever met. You were a great teammate, but more importantly, you were a great friend. One day we will meet again. Love you brother, Rest in Paradise #7

Braden Brown

Zach, In the time that I knew you, you were always so kind and considerate, and never one to complain. We could always make each other laugh no matter the time of day. We grieve with you as fellow laborers in the Kingdom, and lift your family up in prayer to the Great Physician. For only he can bring comfort in this earthy realm. But please know and understand that Zach is in the care of Jesus, and so many are thinking of and praying for you. We send our love and condolences.

Janice Hinkley

Finding the right words in such a time is almost impossible. I’ve known Zach for almost a year. I’ve never cared so much for someone in such a short time. Zach was an amazing man, who I could go on and on about. He had this beautiful “don’t let things get you down” attitude that was so contagious. He was easy going and so head strong. I am lucky to have known him and heartbroken to now say goodbye . I want to give my condolences to his beautiful family. Thank you for creating such a wonderful man that has touched so many people. I will cherish all the memories I have of him.

We mourn your loss with you and your beautiful extended family. We rejoice, however, in Zach’s love for the Lord. We lift you up in prayer and in love. May you sense the presence of the Father, Son, and Spirit as never before.

Michael and Kathy Fox

Dear Ann, Gregg, Katie, and Hannah--there are no words deep enough to express how much we loved Zach. He will be so very much missed every day. His humility, sense of humor, and strong faith in our God is his legacy. He had and still has much to teach us about working hard and loving family well. He did both with excellence. We love you so much, dear Zach, and know you are safely in God's arms.

Nan Smith–Zach’s aunt

Zach is and will be missed. He is a part of my work family & we all feel the loss greatly. I will miss our annual manager meetings, where every year he proclaimed “I’m sitting next to Jackie”. I’d like to say it was because he enjoyed my company, however, we all know he wanted to eat my food after he finished his. He is such a kind young man who treated every person he came into contact with like his friend. Zach, we miss you already. Praying for his family to find the strength to conquer this pain & loss of such a gentle soul.
