Kenneth Carl Wieneke

February 26, 1925 — February 21, 2019

Kenneth Carl Wieneke, 93, passed away February 21, 2019, in Texas, following a brief illness. He was born February 26, 1925, in Bloomfield, IA, the son of Adolph Earl and Jennie Edith (Haines) Wieneke.   Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Wieneke; and siblings, Harold, Clell and Wayne Wieneke, and Hazel Price. He was united in marriage to Margaret Catherine Fryrear on June 15, 1947, in Queen City, MO.

Kenneth served in the US Navy during World War II from August 11, 1943, until receiving honorable discharge as an Electrician's Mate Second Class on April 22, 1946. He earned the American Area - Victory - Philippine Liberation (2 stars) and Asiatic Pacific (11 stars) medals for dedicated and faithful service to his country. He was a member of the American Legion.

Kenneth worked many years as an electrician and in the lawn care business.   He was a lifelong Baptist and affiliated with the First Baptist churches in Plattsburg and McAllen.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret; sons, Michael Wieneke (Vickie) and Steven Wieneke (Marissa); grandchildren, Travis Wieneke Sr. (Kimberly), Sarah Smith (Matt) and Jill Schlude (Roger); nine great grandchildren; brothers, Roy Wieneke and Raymond Wieneke; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends, including a very dear friend, Phyllis Schaefer.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm Wednesday, February 27, at the Park Lawn Lathrop Chapel, 901 Clinton Street, Lathrop, MO. Graveside services with military honors by the Lathrop American Legion will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm Wednesday, February 27, at the Park Lawn Lathrop Chapel, 901 Clinton Street, Lathrop, MO. Graveside services with military honors by the Lathrop American Legion will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg, MO. Arrangements: Park Lawn Lathrop Chapel (816) 740-4658.
